What Are “Tweakments?”

What Are Tweakments

Small, Nonsurgical Treatments For Natural-Looking Facial Optimization

In recent years, there has been a measurable increase in the number of younger patients looking for small cosmetic improvements, rather than waiting until they are older with more serious concerns to address. Patients also commonly seek more conservative results versus the more exaggerated outcomes that tend to grab headlines or go viral. The colloquial term for this tasteful approach to aesthetic services is called “tweakments.”

As a practice, we have always been the place for less dramatic, more natural results which makes this rising trend feel refreshing to our team!

What Is Facial Optimization?

Facial Optimization is a “less is more” approach to achieving aesthetic goals, one that aims to maintain the unique characteristics of an individual’s face while giving them a chance to highlight certain features or camouflage the aspects they would rather blend in. The philosophy focuses on creating natural symmetry and a beautiful balance that helps the patient feel most confident.

“It all starts with an honest conversation about what the patient feels are their best features. I think the term ‘Facial Optimization’ helps to keep the focus on bespoke, individualized results — and I’m here for that.”

What Types Of Procedures Are Included In “Tweakments?”

The most common treatments included in this conversation include:

“With the promotion of aesthetic treatments on social media, people are more aware of their options and we are seeing more patients understanding what the treatment outcomes can be. The world is becoming more friendly to the shift toward maintenance and avoidance of surgery.”

The Rise Of The 8 Point Facelift (& Variations Of This Approach)

The 8 Point Facelift (sometimes referred to as a “Global Facial Treatment” or the “liquid facelift) is a series of strategically-placed dermal filler injections designed to give patients temporary lift and volume restoration throughout the face without surgery. Not every patient needs all 8 types of injections to achieve their desired results; this just refers to the 8 points of injection that they could choose from.

This bouquet of cosmetic injections has gained popularity in the United Kingdom and is starting to gain attention here in the United States.

The Preventative Component Of Tweakments

Undergoing small doses of neuromodulators, lasers and other collagen-inducing treatments can help prevent wrinkles from forming, possibly delaying the need for surgical intervention. Neuromodulators work by inhibiting specific muscle movement related to creating folds in the skin; if you cannot create the fold, you’ll be able to give your skin a break and stave off wrinkles longer.

“Tweakments” are also a way to maintain the coveted “undone” look, allowing a patient to still look like themselves — just a more polished version.

Keeping Up With The Results Is A Simple Routine

Discussing Medical-Grade Skincare Products With A Patient

It’s worth noting that “Tweakments” aren’t a permanent solution. Lifestyle changes and upkeep are necessary to ensure great results, especially as we begin to age. Here is an educated timeline of how often a patient should re-up their aesthetic treatments, based on our providers’ experiences:

  • Skincare & SPF — daily
  • Neurotoxins, BBL & Facial Services — quarterly
  • Filler, Morpheus8 & Halo — semi-annually/annually

Another Key Benefit: These Smaller Treatments Actually Cost Less & Save Time

While there are costs associated with cosmetic upkeep, these nonsurgical procedures pay off in the long run with greater results and less risk or guesswork. Professional treatments ensure you get the best medical-grade solutions, administered by top providers. You don’t have to experiment with various creams that have a decent rating on Amazon but deliver subpar results. Googling the benefits of certain skincare products while browsing the aisles of the department store can be a thing of the past.

The price of these one-off experiments adds up and they do not provide the same quality results as professional treatments. By choosing upgraded services, you minimize potential risks and achieve your ideal, long-term facial optimization.

The Importance Of Understanding What Each Treatment Is Designed To Do

Patient education is a critical component of establishing great results. The provider needs to understand the individual’s concerns and history, while the patient should have a firm grasp on all of the options available to her.

During a consultation, we emphasize the importance of quality skin care, how lasers can improve her skin health, and how neurotoxin and fillers can help the skin look smoother and her face more rested.

What Cosmetic Treatments Are Good For A New Working Mother?

“She’s working from home and taking care of the baby. She doesn’t have the luxury of a lot of downtime. I would likely get her started with neurotoxin and a skin treatment, like BBL — enough to help her look rested again, even when her little one kept her up. We will take care of her while she’s busy taking care of everyone else!”
